SIGNATURE CLASSES
The Yoga Chapple’s signature cycle and yoga class. 30 MIN CYCLE 30 MIN YOGA
* Fun, loud music, sweat and laughter. Cardio does not have to be a total grind! You can handle 30min right ??? We teach from a PRE system. Perceived Rate of Exertion.
We train you like a cyclist, no hand weights on the bike, no spinning hard with no resistance. We want you to enjoy your knees and your back for a long time. We teach straight up hills and cadence (speed). The sweaty cycle is followed by upper body and core emphasis yoga and we end with a sweet, sweet cool down. You’ll love it…well after its all over that is :) Bring sneakers, mat and a water bottle. Or if you have SPD clips we got you locked in.
6:30 am comes early. I would say that this class is like a cup of coffee, but nothing is like coffee! Saying that it comes pretty close. You’ll get some meditation and breath work. We will invigorate the body with some slow flows and creative sequencing to awaken the body and mind. Yoga wake up is a great way to meet the day. We have showers at our location, get ready and head to work or coffee or back to bed up to you.
Suntwine creator Lisa Stacy is an icon and all around beautiful human. She weaves yoga and Reiki together it has been described as an "out of this world" experience. Hard to really pin down this class in words, better to give it a try.
Drop out of all judgment of yourself and others and just flow with the universe.
We love Stratford. So our way of saying thank you is to offer when we can $8 dollar classes.
Join Kate at 5:30pm on Thursday for her take on Yang Yin Style class. Slow and relaxed, no inversions classical yoga poses .
Join Claire at 6pm on Fridays for her slow flow class. Slow flow is a take on a typical fast paced vinyasana class ( a sequence of movements with breath) we turn the tempo right down. Extend the breath extend your life. A great intro to movement with breath, and to learn the sun salutations in a slower paced rhythm.
.
CYLCE FIX( 25/15) is the espresso shot of the 30/30 and 45/15. This express class at 8 gives you just enough time to get that sweat in before work. We have showers, so get sweaty, shower, changed and go!
We try to generate” fire” and heat in the body by movement and holding strength building poses for a duration of time. By creating heat in the body naturally from the inside out, we can then lead you to longer "ice” cooling poses for 2min holds. Think when you kneed bread. You gotta move it out before you can let it rest.
It is a great class for all levels, even someone just venturing into yoga for the first time. All classes can be geared for you ability. Yoga is awesome in that way. One pose has many variations for success.
Under the restore umbrella we have:
TREATMENT TUESDAY
Restorative yoga is paired with another therapeutic modality.
Holly Johnston and acupuncture
Terri Lynn Seftel lymphatic drainage and salt therapy
Rhea Merritt Osteopathic movements and adjustments
Claire Chapple Hand/Head massages with healing therapeutic oils.
Karmic Shift FRIDAYS
A unique and relaxing class that incorporates restorative movements with either oracle cards, crystals, poetry and themes.
RESTORE 75MIN
What a way to end the weekend and relax before Monday. Hold restorative poses from 5-15 min with all the props. Restorative yoga is all about giving yourself the gift of time, disconnect from the phone, tv, emails and communication in general for an 1h15. This class is not necessarily physically demanding but mentally it can be a challenge.
The new studies coming out is that meditation, stillness and restorative yoga in particular can help those who practice lose weight. Stress, higher level of cortisol and lack of sleep can lower our metabolism, especially as we get older. Allowing the body, breath and mind to find some peace, with relaxing music, in a comfortable beautiful space can do wonders for the nervous system and intern our entire body and mind.
Chair yoga was invented by Voelker-Binder in the late 1980s when she was teaching a mat class and one of her students, Candace Terry, developed rheumatoid arthritis.
This class is great for those that can’t easily get up and down from the ground, where moving has been limited due to injury or time. Chair yoga helps to start the process of movement slowly, mindfully and gives that helping hand with balance. We have stairs at our location, so some mobility is required.
Yoga Basics is a Four week module style class. This class is great for beginners, if you have never tried yoga before, have had a bad experience with yoga, a teacher who is learning how to teach, experienced students who want to go back to the basics. The hour is not a fluid class it has a question and answer section, anatomy section and a physical practice section closed with a 7 min meditation. 4 week sign up is highly recommend, as we will build upon each class. Learn is a fun small class size environment. 10 max students. This class is INCLUDED in the month unlimited pass.
You ever read those choose your own adventure novels, where you get to pick the direction of the character or change the ending. This class is kinda like that. You get to tell us what you want to work on. Maximum 10 people per class. Each person gets to choose a pose or a feeling or something they want to strengthen or stretch out. The possibilities are endless!!! Each class is different, all 10 ideas are then created into an every changing class. You’ll never know what others are going to choose, but It all seems to be exactly what you need in the end.
This class is FREE and 20min. Come and sit in a partly guided meditation. We at The Yoga Chapple understand how challenging a meditation practice can be. Hard to start and hard to maintain.
5 min of guidance, 15 min in silence . Tuesday has music. Thursday no music.
Joanie back in 2012 sat her first vipassana. The initial sit is 10 days in silent meditation, no talking, no reading, no writing, no eye contact for the full 10days. Vipassana style meditation was brought to the west by Mr. Goenka. More information on this practice visit their website here.
Ready to Ride will get you ready to hit the open road. Even if you are not a roadie, you will definitely feel like you can ride the tour de France when it’s all over.
Kaileigh has a been an avid road cyclists for over 5 years, with her passion and experience on the road, she will train you like a machine and does not give up on you! These rides are 45min with a 15min stretch related to cycling.
The Yoga Chapple proudly rides with her and the “Veiloraptors” MS cyclist team. Kaileigh is our team captain as well as a MS ambassador. So far this year 2019 we have raised $9000 for MS. Check out our giveback page for more details and information.
“Primal Movements” are low to the ground contralateral movements. They help open the body and build strength. This limbers the body up to lift some weights.
kettlebell is a cast iron or cast steel ball with a handle attached to the top (see image below). It is used to perform many types of exercises, including ballistic exercises that combine cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training. We have 15kg, 20kg and 25kg kettle bell weights at the studio. If you like to work out with bigger bells :) you are welcome to bring your own. We design a 25 min circuit that works the whole body. This is then followed by a *yin/restorative yoga cool down. You gear to your ability and range of movement.
